The Jellyman

Welcome to the Jellyman Education. My name is Jed Guinto, a.k.a. the Jellyman.

I can't remember how I got the name exactly, but I assume it was after a Saturday night of drinking and partying in my younger days. A friend of mine called me the Jellyman from the little turtle in Finding nemo most likely because he couldn't understand anything I was saying.

Soon it became my gamer name and that was it. I am the Jellyman

Now what do I do?

I had bills, rent and expenses

After being let go from my first Analyst job, having 10 years of experience in the Aerospace industry I didn't want to be in, demoralized, I felt I was left with nothing.

I decided to keep pursuing data. Not because I was super passionate about it. Mostly because I needed to survive and it was the only employable skill I had left.

Maybe you're going through the same thing.

My 6 year journey from the bottom

As with learnings all new things in life, you start from the bottom and work your way up.

Slowly I developed my skills and solved as many problems as I could. I used the knowledge I did have to my advantage and you can do the same.

It just takes time and with this site, I'll teach you everything I've learned, Tableau and Beyond!

Success Leaves Clues

Succeeding in the Data space is more than just the technical abilities you have with the tools available.

It comes down to the resourcefulness you have for solving problems, bringing people along the journey and making lives easier for those around you whether they work for you or you for them.

  • Stop Complaining

Those that complain rarely are given opportunities to rise up and work on bigger, more complicated and more important problems.

One secret to climbing the ranks is to slowly work on harder problems that affect more people.

  • Solve problems that are important to individuals

Most people solve problems because it fits into a better performance review, or leads to more money. This is not a good approach.

Solve problems that make peoples individual lives and experiences better simply from the goodness of your own heart.

  • Make everyone else the winner

Use your abilities to give others the spotlight. Make them FEEL like they're the champions. You'll get much better support, make better connections and get better results long term.

COVID and the Great Resignation

There was so much uncertainty in the air

In 2020, many things changed in particular the job market. People were reflecting heavily on the work they were doing and many were changing professions in droves.

This was one of the inspirations for teaching success principles in addition to data analytics. To help people navigate a changing job market in times of uncertainty and develop a relevant skill that is in high demand in the digital landscape today.

How I Started Teaching Online

200k Students, 445k Enrolments, 12k Reviews

I started teaching online back in 2014 through Udemy. I was trying to find ways to make extra money because my job at the time didn't pay all that much. I went from selling old things around the house, to starting an eBay store, to selling digital content which lead me to Udemy.

I started by creating Excel courses as that's all I knew at the time. It was tough and very little success at the beginning by I enjoyed creating content and helping people so I believed in myself and in what I was doing and just kept going.

6 Years on Udemy before I saw Success

I was creating Excel courses for a long time on Udemy and didn't see very much success. I was making less than $50 a month on the platform whilst spending 20-30 hours a week on the content creation. It was tough at the beginning.

  • Hello Tableau!

It wasn't until I created my Tableau course at the beginning of 2020 on Udemy that things started to pick up.

  • YouTube Channel

To bring people into my training as well as introduce them to what Tableau was, I started a YouTube channel

  • Jellyman Education Website

With the success of Udemy and YouTube, I thought it was finally time to embark on a long term dream which was to build my own website and design the way I always wanted.

Bitten by the YouTube Bug

In 2020 I started building my YouTube channel also called Jellyman Education. I realized not everyone wants to take a course but needed assistance on a few things they work on during the day.

There was a lot to learn on YouTube but as momentum built, more people became engaged and it was helping their daily activities.

It's going to be a busy and exciting year!

I'm so excited for 2022 because so much has happened already! But to give you an idea of all the business ventures I do, here's my checklist

  • Buy our first home

Podcast - "Brah...Finance"

We talked about Finance and Investing so much that we decided to start a podcast

I have two best friends, Kirk and CJ and we've known each other for decades. In recent years we've been talking more and more about investing both in Stocks and in Real Estate. We talked about it so much with our romantic partners that one suggested we start a podcast! So that's exactly what we did!

In the podcast we talk about getting out of debt, managing your finances, organising your accounts, the basics of stocks and index funds, real estate investing, tax, crypto and much more.

The Brah Finance podcast is designed specifically for Australians. A lot of what we've studied and read came from America which has different laws and economic climates to Australia.

Therefore we really wanted to create something specifically for Australians who've had similar lives and experiences to us.

We're also available on Apple Podcasts

For all the Loyal Apple Nerds

One of the things that is near and dear to our hearts, is helping people get out of crippling debt.

Managing finances, learning to use credit cards responsibly and even understand all those fancy numbers that banks use against is something we wanted to teach people so they can succeed financially for their families.

Google Podcasts

Our Podcast is about teaching people how to assess investments. This protects them from the noise and chatter from the outside world and to follow the basic mathematics which removes the emotional decision making.

We've followed this philosophy for years through Investing in stocks, buying our properties, assessing cryptocurrencies, verifying what bankers and brokers have told us and more.

We're not here to tell you what to do. We're here to provide skills to navigate the financial landscape for success.
