Did You Lose Your Job As Well?

Part 1 — The Setback

I’ve been in that place of uncertainty — where the career I trusted disappeared overnight.

I know the frustration of feeling stuck, overlooked, or left behind.

And I know how heavy it feels to start again from zero.

Rebuilding My Life

Part 2: The Rebuild

When I was let go, I had to make a choice. To give up and move back home or to fight for a better future.

I taught myself new skills in data and analytics, step by step.

Slowly, I rebuilt my confidence, created new opportunities, and found purpose again.

Maybe You're Going Through Similar Struggles?

Have you recently lost your job or planning to change careers into Analytics?

It's not easy. It can be unexpected. You could have responsibilities and plans for the future that have now been derailed.

My First Dream - Aerospace Engineering

I pursued Aerospace Engineering for nearly 10 years. It was everything I thought I wanted — I even began a Ph.D. believing this would be my life’s path.

I came to realize that this was not the path for me. I walked away.

I Managed To Get A New Job In The Education Space as a Data Analyst

Things Were Going Great!

  • My Start

I got my start as a Junior Analyst. It was all new, but I was finally applying what I’d learned and picking up the fundamentals

  • The Spark

I fell in love with the work, the business, and the team. It felt like I’d found where I belonged.

  • Awesome Boss

I had an awesome boss that was mentoring me. I could see a great career ahead of me.

Everything Fell Apart

I had no job and no clear direction — I was demoralized.

Aerospace didn’t feel right anymore, and I’d just been let go as an Analyst.

I started questioning everything — Was I good enough? Was it all a waste? What now?

Through Hard Work I Climbed The Ranks

From starting over to leading with confidence — every step earned, not given

  • Started as an entry-level analyst working heavily in Excel

  • Progressed into dashboard building with Tableau

  • Took ownership of reporting and automated workflows

  • Led a small analytics team and introduced SQL into the workflow

  • Promoted to Senior Analyst, solving high-impact business problems

  • Became a mentor to new analysts, guiding both tools and strategy

I Started on Udemy

200k Students, 445k Enrolments, 14k Reviews

I got my start on Udemy, teaching way back in 2013.

It was slow at first — just a few students here and there — but I stuck with it.

Over time, I built a community of over 200k learners from around the world.

Bitten by the YouTube Bug

In 2020, I started building my YouTube channel — also called Jellyman Education.

I realized not everyone wants a full course — some just need help with specific tasks they face each day.

There was a lot to learn, but as momentum grew, more people engaged, and it started helping their daily work.

My Heart and Soul Built This Site

Over a decade of sharing and teaching online has gone into creating the most accessible, practical Tableau training I could possibly build.

A lot of trial and error went into this. A lot of mistakes. A lot of obstacles and setbacks.

I’ve poured my heart, soul, and life experience into every part of it — not just to teach data, but to help non-data people transform their lives like I once did.

It's my gift to be able to take complex concepts, software, and techniques and make them simple and digestible, so that ANYONE — no matter their background, age, experience, or gender — has the opportunity to rebuild their life from the ground up.

All the while building your confidence in yourself. To show you that it is POSSIBLE even if you suck at math or have never used a computer.

This is my life’s work.

Made by filming in my car at 5am before work. Writing Instagram posts with my one free hand while rocking my one-year-old to sleep. Falling asleep at my desk at 3am night after night and even seeing the sun come up the next day. I filmed in a freezing garage during winter just to get better sound quality. Skipping meals, working through lunch breaks — all to make this dream a reality.

It was worth it. Thank you.
